How to keep a fresh face by incorporating sunscreen into your everyday routine…

Many of us have had skin woes in our lives, more sore in the past year where stress and emotions have been at an all time high.

Unlike last year, we are not experiencing the much welcomed heat wave! However the sun is always present and you are causing sun damage to your skin even on the rainiest of days.

Many of our clients look sheepish when asked if they have been using their SPF, with many saying it doesn’t sit with their make up, causes them to break out, or just forgotten amongst their daily routine.

Let me introduce you to SPF that will help keep your skin in beautiful condition, if you have been temped to ditch the SPF and brave it in the sunshine experts recommend:

What sunscreen should I be using?

If you suffer from and sort of break outs, it doesn’t have to be just ‘acne’, any skin sensitivities or conditions can be helped by doing your research!

There are two different types of sunscreen; physical and chemical.

Physical such as the Obagi Matte, sits on top of the skin and reflects UV rays.

Chemical is absorbed by the skin and turns UV rays into heat - this isn't great for acne suffers, and therefore people with acne should always use a physical SPF.

Why are physical sunscreens better for my skin?

Physical SPFs usually contain zinc and are anti-acne or noncomedogenic (noncomedogenic is a term used to describe skincare products that are formulated in such a way that they are not likely to cause pore blockages (comedones) and breakouts). Zinc is an anti-irritant and well tolerated by sensitive skin types (it’s often found in baby products). Zinc also provides the most complete UVA protection.

If you're yet to switch there are plenty of products you can try, but we do recommend and stock the Obagi Medical Sun Shield Matte, or Sun Shield Tint, Broad Spectrum SPF 50.

A slight tint to the suncream has been a firm favourite this year, as a light coverage, evening alternative to a BB cream or foundation, for those long days on the beach where you want to feel your best!
