This one exercise ages your face faster, according to a plastic surgeon

This universal exercise might be doing more harm than good if done too much...

Nina Prisk(opens in new tab) of Update Aesthetics is a leading aesthetics expert, and spoke to woman&home about what else could be causing your face to age when running.

One thing that could also contribute to the issue of "runner's face," especially if you run outdoors, is sun damage, Nina tells us. "Running outside can expose the face to sun damage. It’s known that the sun’s harmful UV rays can pose risks such as skin cancer," she mentions. "They can also damage the skin’s natural collagen production. Collagen and elastin are structural proteins that give skin their elasticity so if this is affected then the skin can sag and wrinkle more prematurely."

14 things cosmetic doctors want you to know about botox, including how the covid vaccine might make it less effective.

Harley Street aesthetics expert and Independent Nurse Prescriber, Nina Prisk of Update Aesthetics, says:

‘I am certainly seeing an increase in people who have had the Covid vaccine and are discovering that their Botulinum type A injections are not lasting as long as they used to. As such some are returning more frequently for treatment. I’ve read that this could be as a result of the immune response created by the injection which means the body could see the Botulinum type A as a foreign substance and attack it so that the effects wear off faster.’

For decades, scientists have been trying to find a way to keep skin looking young.

Applying collagen topically on the skin isn’t ideal because collagen doesn’t absorb well,” Nina explains. “Injecting collagen was used in medical skincare but that is no longer popular as it didn’t last as long as fillers and in some cases, it caused a reaction.

That’s why collagen supplements were developed.”With Nina’s advice in mind, mum-of-three Lynsey Hope, 41, from West Malling, Kent, tried out a £3-a-day collagen shot for one month to the effect on her skin.

Here, she shares her diary of what happened.

I met up with a “mum” friend who was looking particularly well rested. As I commented on how well she was looking, she joyfully confessed, that the reason for her new radiant look not a spa weekend or a good nights sleep but her fist ever round of injectables. Now had it been an industry friend, I wouldn’t have given it a second thought but this friend of mine was not someone to regularly indulge in beauty treatments, especially not ones involving needles. Impressed by her fresh, natural looking results I asked for the details of her injector.

The practioner in questions was Nina Prisk of Update Aesthetics. The name rang a bell. A regular amongst the beauty bibles, some further research revealed I was already in touch with her press team.

Hyaluronic acid (also known as ‘HA’) is one of those ingredients that you see plastered all over product packaging and hear dermatologists wax lyrical about. And for very good reason. Perfect for people with dehydrated or dry skin(opens in new tab), there’s pretty much nothing else out there that can help boost moisture(opens in new tab) levels quite like hyaluronic acid(opens in new tab).

And don't be put off by the word ‘acid’—hyaluronic acid isn't like other acids for skin. While other skincare acids typically have exfoliating properties, hyaluronic acid does nothing of the sort.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of your body’s connective tissue that maintains the skin’s strength and elasticity. Around 50% of it is found in our skin.

With the clocks going back tomorrow morning, an extra hour’s sleep is in store tonight for Brits up and down the country. But while the thought of spending more time in bed may be enough to put a smile on our faces, it turns out that the health benefits of getting some additional shut eye are enough to sing and dance about, too.

And given that nearly three quarters of UK adults don’t get the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep a night, and with 14% getting less than five hours, it’s clear that having a good night’s sleep is more important than ever.

So, with the clocks going back, what are the benefits of getting an extra hour’s sleep and why should we all prioritise getting some rest?

Teenager, 19, reveals doctors warned she could have cancer after she found a 1cm lump in her neck - only to discover it was 'migrated' £620 dermal filler

A 19-year-old student has revealed her shock after doctors warned she had cancer after she found a 1cm lump in her neck - only to discover that it was actually dermal filler that had migrated.

Gracie Andrews, from Cornwall, first had dermal filler injected in her lips just before her 19th birthday because she wanted them to look bigger with more of a pout.

The student went on to have £500 of filler injected into her jaw, cheek and chin in August 2021, before having another £120 of filler into her lips.

Summer’s here, and for some women who struggle to manage their excessive sweating it can bring a sense of dread.

It's estimated that 30% of people experience the excessive sweating condition known as hyperhidrosis but it's often considered embarrassing to talk about. Many women say that it seriously impacts their life and go to extreme lengths to conceal it.

As well as hyperhidrosis, hormones, the menopause and health conditions can all interfere with our temperature regulation, too.

Why do I sweat so much?

Aesthetics nurse and independent prescriber Nina Prisk from Update Aesthetics says that excessive sweating is relatively common and can appear in specific areas or across the whole body.
